End Of Fashion’s day at the Zoo

So this is Easter and what have you done…

Well we’re not sure what you got up to this Easter, whatever you got up to, we hope you had a great time. Here’s what we did…

Braving early morning Easter Sunday conditions, we boarded a flight bound for Adelaide. While Justin and Rodney slept peacefully, Hobbsy and I took in the on-flight film ‘Last Chance Harvey’. Annoyingly, something got stuck in my eye towards the end of the film causing tears to form. I’m pretty sure Hobbsy noticed, I just hope he knows something got stuck in my eye is all.

Upon arriving in Adelaide we were shuttled into a van and delivered into a dusty heartland, surrounded by giraffes, rhinos, lions and long-necked horses. They called it Zoo Festival. Needless to say, we were all terrified. Surrounded by wilderness, wild foreign beasts of the field and Rodney. The expedition turned dangerous…

Of course, I’m exaggerating again... A big thanks to everyone who showed up and enjoyed the music! We really appreciate it. And a special thanks to all the volunteers who gave up so much of their time and were nothing but nice.

Stay tuned for more news. Take of yourselves, and each other.

Love Simon.

End Of Fashion’s 3rd single from the album ‘Book Of Lies’ recently went to radio and so far has been picked up across the board by 96fm, Nova 100, Hot Tomato, Sea fm and more…

It is available now on Itunes or as part of the album ‘Book Of Lies’ at music retailers everywhere.

END OF FASHION HAS A NEW MEMBER!

End Of Fashion are on tour and they are doing it with a new member!  Simon Fasolo will be taking the place of Tom King as the band’s bass player.  The band encouraged ex-bass player Tom King to persue his own musical venture and wish him well.

Once the decision was made, there was really only one person the band wanted to take over the reins- Simon Fasolo.  “Simon’s one of my best friend’s and an awesome muso.  He’s a massive asset to the band both live and in the studio.  Bright days ahead!” says the band lead vocalist Justin Burford.

Simon started playing guitar at the tender age of 12: “My first ever girlfriend told me there was a way out of playing the abominable recorder (a cursed ‘flute wannabe’ instrument).  You could play guitar.  She showed me a D chord and I realised ‘anyone can play the guitar”.  He then moved on to bass guitar and has had experience in a number of local Perth bands over the years.

The band is very happy to have him on board and they are looking forward to a great first tour together: “Having always loved End Of fashion, it’s quite a thing to be part of the band and I’m looking forward to exciting times ahead.”

END OF FASHION Australian Tour

After staring out at a sea of sweaty screaming festival goers and picking up a few rave reviews at the Homebake and Southbound music festivals, End Of Fashion are itching to get local with a tour spanning Fremantle to Hobart, Adelaide to Noosa and more.

Along the way they will be offering up the trumpet wielding infectious 1st single from their album ‘Book Of Lies’ Fussy, their new single Dying For You (written with Julian Hamilton of The Presets) and a stack of hits both old and new.

Since Dying For You hit the radio in December it has already been added across the board at Nova. The brand new video for Dying For You is an energetic performance video based around the ‘Book Of Lies’ album artwork and filmed and Directed in their hometown of Perth with Steve McCallum.

They are hitting the road with the very talented Melbourne based Oh Mercy supporting. This idiosyncratic and quirky pop act has been embraced in their home town and will be fresh from playing the Laneway Festival. Described as “like a young version of Augie March crossed with The Shins” (Fasterlouder), Oh Mercy’s style is consistently difficult to pin down. What is certain is that, while they cite classic rock ‘n’ roll and folk influences, the songwriting partnership of Alexander Gow and Thomas Savage creates music unmistakably of their own style.

More special guests will be announced soon.

Tickets are on sale January 27th for the following dates –

Fashy New Year!

whew! i need a wipe of the brow after that little jaunt through festive town!

how's everyone been?? how was your new years??? i know, i know it's been a while since i popped in to say hello....that time of year i guess...

saw in the new year just as a rock band should i reckon, sweating up on stage. the home crowd at the rosemount were having a ball bopping along and we were loving it, all smiles (except for my uncomfortable shoes, but i digress) everything going great until...

well, see, writing a set list for new years presents its problems. not just the usual "what songs in what order" either. We had to account for the break in the set about 45 minutes in to do the countdown. This isnt as easy as it sounds, rock music not being an exact science as you know. Long story short, we finished the song we planned to play before the countdown with two and a half minutes left...not enough to get in another quick one or we might miss it. What to do???

It was all good though, everyone was in high spirits so we charmed them with our witty banter down to the last ten seconds. Then lots of kissing and hugging and general feelings of good will...Ahhhhh nice. Then another tirade* (spelling) of rock music and we were done to go join the ranks of the merry.

Quick fast forward...and here we are at southbound. YAY!!

It was everything it should have been...really fun, really boozey and really HOT!

Man, was anyone else there??? That friday was boiling. I was afraid everyone would be shade hunting but by the time we went on the crowd was big, energetic and going for it. Hats off to all of you who braved the heat in the name of music, you are all troopers! Now quick put your hat back on, slip slop slap.

So i think that pretty much brings us up to date. Its a gorgeous summer so stop reading this and get out in it!! Haha

Oh and you'll be pleased to know we're starting to get some new tracks together so while its still a little while away, the seeds of album three are being planted....ooooo

Take care

JB

We're Off To Make A Video

It's tuesday November 11 2008 and I'm writing this to kill some time before I head off to Sumo Studios in Osborne Park, Perth to start shooting our next video for our up coming single DYING FOR YOU. Pretty exciting!

The concept is simple. Pretty much a rough n ready performance clip with a bit of a twist...(wouldn't be an EOF vid without a twist eh???). We're moving away from any kind of narrative or high concept (ie, Fussy or She's Love) and showing the band just playing the song with the energy we have live.

We're in the hands of Steve McCallum tonight. He's a very talented up and coming director with a great visual flair.  Steve's worked with some of our finest local bands including The Silents, Streetlight and our good friends, The Harlequin League.

Here's the link to his latest Harlequin League vid if you want to get a flavour of what he's about.

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=6Y9JMtdxnCk

Anyhow, thought I'd keep y'all in the loop

Wish us luck! Should be a good one!
